56 degrees North
Three days drive from Boulder Co got us to northern Saskatchewan CA, past Pelican Narrows where we launched our canoe trip at Slim's Cabins on the Churchill River. Our traveling companions and guides" were Bob and Jill Stecker who have been taking trips to the Canadian wilderness for the past 35 years. WE were in good hands. We had great weather, not too many bugs and ate delicious northern pike and walleye. The last two days it rained and blew, thus signifying the passing of summer in the north country. We left in the nick of time. Check out the pink book Diane is reading, George! Three weeks out and still not needing charge.
Fun in Steamboat and Flattops Wilderness
We spent almost a month in Steamboat Springs CO visiting and staying with friends Sam and Vickie and Marty and Mimi and Gary.Joining us for camping and hiking and " garage saleing" were sailing buds Sarana, aka Eric and Sherrell.
First pic is camping with Vickie and Marty at Big Creek Lakes, "catwalking" in the Flattops, hiking around Trappeurs Lake, and Wall Lake. You can see the remains of the fire ten years ago.....Ron, Marty and Gary Lokkesmoe took a boys hike to the Devil's Causeway which looks like a rugged backbone rising 1000 feet or so out of the earth--a scary path to cross/crawl. We also hiked to Fishcreek Falls and beyond just above the town of Steamboat Springs.(pic of Di and Sherrell) and lastly our beloved friend Pippie, long haired Daschund, just loved our hike on Rabbit Ears Pass--it was all we could do to keep up with her fast pace!!!.
